I have been practicing a process called dirty pour painting. It is a bit like controlling chaos... Just the way I like it. Well, with a lot of practice and patience a few meager entities have emerged from the ooze. I thought I would show off a few finished pics. Sizes range from 8 x 10 inches to 16 x 20 inches.
I enjoy the energy this process radiates long after the canvas has dried.
At times I experience the gateway to another universe
Colors often re invent themselves when in the chaotic struggle to dominate the page
I find the movement and direction mesmerizing, as if guiding me to an unknown in a primordial state of being.
As I was moving the fluid around on this canvas, a sense of reverence was etching its way into my psyche. A point in the process came where I said stop. Unsure I let the image rest. The next day I saw it. I was looking at death in the Arctic ice.
It is finally here.
This project started over a year ago when Joanne Gull asked if I would be interested in illustrating for her.
I said yes... and now here we are over a year later looking at the recently published edition of Yud's Child on Amazon.
I found Joannes book to be spell binding. The broadness of Joanne's literary strokes encouraged me to find different meanings with each reading.
....and for these reasons and more, illustrating Joanne's book Yud's Child has been both an honor and a real joy.

On our journey through life we meet fellow travelers, different from each other as the legendary pilgrims traversing the Canterbury trail. As we intersect we may encounter another who opens one's heart, another who steals purse or peace. Yet another may support or abuse. Are these companions other than ourselves or reflections of our own hearts as we traverse both our internal and external journeys? This story may be a spiritual journey of the human heart. This story could be a psychological mirror of the aspects of a human personality. It might express the stages of dying. Or it may be just a simple story that the Child in you enjoys as you meet a gentle doe, a wandering cat, a pleasure-loving pig, a transforming parrot, a protective cobra, a wisdom hermit, and a lost child as they find pleasure and refuge in each other journeying to meet a deeper Presence.Whatever the adventure is for you, may it touch your heart.
30 plus years working in clinical settings gave me the opportunity to appreciate the thousands of clients that I met and interacted with.
It is their stories that helped me look beyond the ordinary and embrace the extra ordinary.
Their visions inspired me.
I found myself sketching while with patients attempting to find a way to relay their psychic energy. I began to realize that an empathic approach was fulfllling the itch that I was feeling. the sketches became more satisfying.
This is my masterpeice. No work of art that I have ever created has meant more to me than this drawing. It represents for me my entire adventure. When I look at this strange 'thing' I remember it all. The cognative dissonence that reverberates through me. The wonderful. The rediculous. The presence of uncertainty. The certainty of death. The struggle for meaning.......
During my last 15 or so years I produced nearly a thousand drawings depicting a moment in time among my clients. I was often standing in a hall or sitting in a group or alone with a soul who was quietly struggling.
I am forever indepted to the many wonderful people I met and worked with those many years. I am indepted to the many staff that I shared these experiences with. You know who you.
